Camp, Cook & Chill in Nymboida on the June Long Weekend

Nymboida Camping and Canoeing announce that after experiencing their second bushfire in four years, their volunteers do not have the capacity to hold their annual Clarence Valley Camp Oven Festival in 2024.

NC&C Board Member, Ros Cooper said, “We do plan to celebrate the success of our residents, their family and friends, the RFS and the wider Clarence Valley community, as together we stood tall in the face of October’s bushfire.”

“We want to celebrate the resilience of our community, which has rebounded from the catastrophic fire only 4 years ago. It’s the phoenix rising once again.”

Next year’s event will provide campers with a more spacious and relaxed experience, with time to chill in the campground’s beautiful natural surroundings.

The program is focused around camp oven cooking with renowned cooks King Brown, Guy McIntosh and Angela Wilson. They will be demonstrating, providing coaching as well as preparing a 2-course meal for campers (get in early to pre-order!) Other activities include: a bush dance and a campfire singalong with the well-known Frohlich Brothers, ukulele and art workshops, tree planting and a variety of other fun activities.

There are only 170 tickets which include entry to the long weekend event and accommodation. This number allows the organisers to spread out campsite allocations, to ensure plenty of elbow room for everyone.

“This is not a festival,” said Ms Cooper, “there are no day passes and no vendors, except for the coffee van of course!”

Campers are invited to ring 02 6649 4155 to book their favourite campsite or cabin. Head to www.ncandc.com.au for detailed event information.
